Dulux Colour of the Year 2018

Last year it was “Denim Drift” – and sure enough, we’ve seen an influx of blues in home furnishings in 2017, from vibrant teal to navy – but 2018 is going to be all about mauve. Yes, the colour specialists at Dulux Global Aesthetic Centre have chosen the shade they predict will define our interiors over the coming 12 months, and it’s “Heart Wood”, a dusky mauve “designed to bring a sense of comfort to the home”.

2018 trend: seventies chic

Move over mid-century modern – if the autumn/winter catwalks and trend forecasters are right, there’ll be a definite seventies vibe to our interiors in 2018. Designers such as Jonathan Adler have long championed the look but it seems it’s going mainstream; according to Pinterest, macramé wall hangings, chunky knitted throws and house plants are among the most-pinned items this month.

Welcome to COTY 2017: Denim Drift

We love colour, something a quick scroll through our blog posts will testify! It comes as little surprise, then, that ‘Colour of the Year’ announcements really make us tick, whether it’s the Colour Institute, Pantone, or perhaps a producer of pristine paints like Dulux...

Pantone reconnects with nature

Every year we look forward to colour prediction season, but although a number of brands panic and gaze into their crystal ball early, there is only one prediction that holds credence the world over. We are referring to Pantone, the colour institute who place ridiculous amounts of effort into their shade analysis.

Crown Floors returns to Harrogate

15 Dec 2016 by Tom Bourne

It’s that time of the year again. Not Christmas, New Year or Easter, rather the large milestone that protrudes from the flooring calendar; we are of course talking about The Flooring Show, Harrogate, where industry folk can discover the big trends for the year ahead.

We shan’t be there for small talk alone. Brushing pleasantries swiftly aside, we’ll be on the hunt for those cheeky style indicators ahead of spring/summer 17; from rustic oak to contemporary tiles, just what will be big on this year’s agenda?

One thing that’s guaranteed to capture attentions is Hall A’s stand A1. It couldn’t get any higher in the billing and deservedly so: it’s the return of Crown Floors and some quite simply stunning carpet. Crown Floors has been proudly promoting its brand at Harrogate for a number of years, treating guests to a sneak preview of up-and-coming lines, and this year is no different.

It’s the turn of Glendevon to take centre stage, a modern twist on tartan that champions trending colourways. With six colour combinations spanning variations on grey and silver, there’s more than one reason to select the latest from the Crown Floors think-tank. For those feeling a tad brave, there are even options channelling vibrant accent colours, such as electric red, elevating spaces from dull and dreary to daring and diverse.

If tartan’s not quite your style, fear not. Harrogate is also an opportunity for Crown Floors to present its new Venus collection, a super soft polypropylene that provides exceptional underfoot comfort. Not to be outdone, Venus, much like Glendevon, comprises six on-trend hues including Crystal, Champagne and French Grey, ensuring this deeper pile is not left wanting in aesthetic terms.

With the new collections also boasting a series of practical credentials typical of the Crown Floors brand, including extensive stain and wear warranties, easy cleaning and heavy domestic suitability, we’re expecting a healthy crowd at stand A1, 18-20 September.

We’ll see you then!
